Obituary Condolences

FAIR HAVEN -- Mrs. Ella May Sears, 82, died Saturday, July 29, 2006, at the Haven Health Center of Rutland, after a long illness.

Mrs. Sears was born Aug. 10, 1923 in Albany, N.Y., the daughter of the late Franklin M. Wolfe and Doris H. (Burtnett) Wolfe.

She and her husband, Ernest Sears, made their home in North Bennington for more than 20 years. Mr. Sears predeceased his wife in 1996, and a few years after his death she relocated to the Fair Haven area to be closer to her family. Ella was employed for several years in the housekeeping and laundry departments at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, from which she retired. Her enjoyments in life were working in her flower gardens, sewing, drawing, her love of animals and spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Sears is survived by her children, Isabelle Cates, Shirley Carpenter, Joyce Barnes and Zanah Perry; her grandchildren, Donald Carpenter, Carla Carpenter, Georgene Hayes, Cale Carpenter, Paul Cleveland, Thomas Kelley, Michael Kelley, Renee Sturdevant, Ronald White, Joyce Hollenbeck and Angela Mansur; her 19 great-grandchildren; and also by her three sisters, Helen Brown, Midge Wisell and Alice Planty. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son, Donald Wallace; her sisters, Anna Renaud and Dorothy Bradford; her brothers, Franklin M. Wolfe Jr., George Wolfe and Raymond Wolfe; her grandsons, Tracy and James Carpenter, and David Dern.

At the request of Mrs. Sears, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service at this time. At the convience of her family, internment will take place in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset, Vt.

Memorial Contributions in memory of Mrs. Sears may be made to the Rutland County Humane Society at P.O. Box 558, Pittsford, VT 05763.

Mrs. Sears family would like to publically thank the nurses and the entire staff at Haven Health Center for the care and love they gave to their mother while she was a resident of their home.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Durfee Funeral Home of Fair Haven.
