Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- The family of Ella Mary Prue regretfully announces her passing on June 7, 2006. Ella passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family, after a long battle with cancer.

Ella was born in Sunderland on Jan. 25, 1945, to William and Mary (Dupee) Capin.

Ella attended local schools until she was 16, when her mother passed away. Ella then took care of her younger brother and sisters until moving to Bennington and marrying Lester R. Prue Jr. on May 30, 1964.

She had been employed at the Bell Laundry, The Triangle, Bennington Health and Rehabilitation, and most recently at Vishay Tansitor.

Ella is survived by her husband of 42 years, Lester “Skip” Prue, her daughters and sons-in-law, Della and Larry Mears of Bennington, Kathy and Jay Coonradt of Shaftsbury, and Linda and Lyle Mears of Petersburgh, N.Y. She leaves eight precious grandchildren.

Ella’s greatest joy was her family and her gardens.

Services for Ella took place at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home for her immediate family. Services were under the direction of the Rev. William Elwell of Pittstown, N.Y., with readings offered by the Rev. Donald Nelson of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and the Rev. Michael DeMasi of Bennington.

Ella was placed to rest in the family lot in the Ira Allen Cemetery in Sunderland.
