Ellen M. Corcoran 1918 - 2011 BENNINGTON Ellen Monica Corcoran, 93, wife of Joseph D. Corcoran, of McKinley Street, died peacefully on Wednesday, July 13, 2011, at Rivers Edge Community Care Home. Born in Bennington on May 3, 1918,the daughter of James P. and Elizabeth Guiden Hogan, she received her education in the Bennington schools. Mrs. Corcoran was employed at Union Carbide Corporation for many years until her retirement in 1983. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church, and was especially devoted to her family. Mr. and Mrs. Corcoran were married at St. Francis de Sales Church on Dec. 30, 1939. She leaves her husband, Joseph D. Corcoran of Bennington; five children and their spouses, Daniel and Mary Corcoran of Bronx, N.Y., James and Wanda Corcoran of Andover, Mass., Michael and Frances Corcoran, Timothy and Linda Corcoran and Mary Hier, all of Bennington; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. Mrs. Corcoran was pre-deceased by four sisters and two brothers, Barbara Hogan, Rose Hurley, Mary Martin, Ann Lauzon and Edward and Patrick Hogan. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 11 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11:30 a.m., where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. when the family will be in attendance. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. John's Cemetery, North Bennington. Should friends desire, contributions in memory of Mrs. Corcoran may be made to HIS Pantry at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
