NEW BEDFORD, Mass. -- Elmira (Fontes) Perry, 95, of Dartmouth died Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Blaire House after a long illness. She was the widow of John A. Perry, who died May 13,1983.

Born in the Azores, Portugal, the daughter of the late Antone and Eduarda (Silva) Fontes, she was a lifelong resident of Dartmouth.

Mrs. Perry was a stitcher for Comus Manufacturing Co. until retiring due to illness.

She was a member of the Bliss Corner Seniors, the Moose Golden Agers and the Hazelwood Seniors.

She was a communicant of St. Mary Church.

Survivors include a son, Russell P. Perry, and his wife, Brenda, of Bennington, Vt.; two daughters, Shirley Cole of Coventry, Conn., and Beverly Breault and her husband, Milton, of Dartmouth; seven grandchildren, Mark Keifer and Pamela Bazzano, both of Connecticut, David Breault, Paul Breault, Peter Breault, and Jennifer Breault, all of Dartmouth, and Darren Ricchi of Pittsfield; a godchild, Edna Medeiros of Grantham, N.H.; a nephew, Robert Duarte of Dartmouth; two nieces; seven great-grandchildren; and several cousins.

She was the sister of the late Mary Duarte and Henry Fontes.

Her funeral service was held in St. Mary Church, Dartmouth. Burial was in South Dartmouth Cemetery.
