Elwood Masterson 1931 - 2008 BENNINGTON Elwood P. Masterson, 77, of Route 313 in Arlington died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born in Newark, N.J., on Feb. 17, 1931, the son of Otto Milson and Marie Masterson, he was raised in Livingston, N.J., where he attended local schools. He was a Navy veteran. Elwood owned and operated a steel tubing fabrication business for many years and, upon moving to Vermont, he owned and operated Shenandoah Farm Bed an Breakfast in Arlington. Elwood enjoyed tending to his yard, his flower gardens and liked mowing lawns. He was an avid New York Ranger Hockey fan, enjoyed searching for antiques, and cherished times spent with his family. Elwood was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a Shriner in Cambridge, N.Y. He leaves his son, Gary Masterson and his wife, Denise, of Succasonna, N.J.; his daughter, Candace Johnston and her husband, Barry, of Chandler, Ariz.; his grandchildren, Kenneth Johnston and his wife, Kelly, of Phillipsburg, N.J.; Kyle Masterson and his wife, Susan, of North Carolina; Justin Masterson and his wife, Lauren, of North Carolina; Clinton Masterson of Warren, N.J., and Kimberly Johnston and her fiancé, Rick, of Breckenridge, Colo.; his nieces, Shirley Goehringer of North Carolina, Germaine Kirspel of Kenvil, N.J., and Bonnie Keith of Parsippany, N.J.; his daughter-in-law, Nancy Masterson of Warren, N.J.; his first wife, Dorothea Lane, and his second wife Donna Masterson. He was predeceased by his son, Robert Masterson, who died Feb. 2, 2000. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of Elwood's life will be held in New Jersey, followed by a graveside service to be held in West Arlington Cemetery at a date to be announced. There will be no visiting hours.
