LUDLOW -- Elzaida Louise Beck, 89, died at Gill Odd Fellows Home on Wednesday, July 14, 2004.

She was born on Sept. 29, 1914 in Long Island, N.Y., the daughter of James Mackey and Florence (Hudson) Mackey.

She graduated from Tottenville High School on Staten Island and attended Pratt Institute. She moved to Vermont shortly after graduation.

She married Gilbert Frost, who predeceased her in 1994. She later married James Beck, who predeceased her in 1997.

She was a member of the Ground Observers Corps - a group that observed aircraft activity.

She was also a longstanding member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.

She enjoyed art, poetry and especially music. She played the piano and the echolalia, providing her family with many hours of music.

Survivors include eight sons, Philip Frost of Sandgate, Fred Frost of Fishersville, Va., Gary Frost of Hooksett, N.H., Blake Frost of Cavendish, Trenton Frost of Louisiana, Paul Sullivan of Ogdensburg, N.Y., Mark Sargeant of Atlanta, Ga. and Dennis Farley of Stoneham, Mass.; a daughter, Cathy Weaver of Sterling, Mass.; one brother, Robert Mackey from North Bennington; 17 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Milton Mackey and James Mackey; a sister, Marion Davidovich; one grandchild.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
