Emil Czerwinski Obituary
Emil F. Czerwinski

1920 - 2012 BENNINGTON, VT In the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 15, Emil Florian Czerwinski of Bennington, passed peacefully with his wife of 66 years, Rosemary, by his side.

Emil was born Nov. 30, 1920, in Bridgeport, Conn., to Natalie and Walter Czerwinski of Poland. At the age of 20, Emil enlisted into the Army Air Force 452 Bombardment Squadron, seeing action throughout Europe and North Africa during World War II. While stationed in England, on Boxing Day 1942, he was invited by a local British woman to share a warm meal with her family. Sixty six years later, his wife Rosemary Mills of Totness, Devon, England, reflects on a lifetime of memories with Emil.

Emil and Rosemary were wed May 25, 1946, in Bridgeport, Conn. They had three daughters, Evelyn, Natalie and Janice. Emil later retired from Triangle Wire in Bennington and then pursued an active life as a volunteer. His impact was seen throughout the community with his service to the Bennington Lions, AARP, Green Mountain Stamp Club and the Bennington Elks. He was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church. During his spare time, he was often seen gardening, golfing, reading or organizing his ever-growing stamp collection.

He is survived by his wife, Rosemary, of Bennington; his first daughter, Evelyn, of Williamsburg, Mass.; his second daughter, Natalie, of Athens, Greece, and his third daughter, Janice, of Seward, Alaska; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church on Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at 11 a.m., where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. The burial will follow in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of Emil may be made to the Bennington Lions Club through the office of the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201. Guest book condolences may be made at www.maharandsonfuneralhome.net
