Emily B. Cooper

DORSET Emily Brudno Cooper, 92, a resident of Dorset for more than thirty years, died Jan. 3, at Equinox Terrace, in Manchester. Born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, she attended Smith College, and then moved to New York and Westchester County, where she raised her family with her husband, Carl Leeds, who died in 1957. Shortly after moving to Dorset in 1978, she married Malcolm Cooper, who died in 2005.

Emily's highest priority in life was her family, and she will long be remembered as a caring wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition, she was active in a number of Dorset and Manchester community activities, including Hildene and Manchester Music Festival. She also was an avid gardener, accomplished tennis player, and lover of literature and the arts.

Emily leaves a large and loving family, including her daughter, Barbara Morrow of Manchester; two sons, Roger Leeds of New York and Dorset, and Andy Leeds of Edinboro, Pa.; a son-in-law, Edward Morrow of Manchester; daughters-in-law, Ellen Leeds and Emily Sprague; two stepsons, Malcolm Cooper Jr. and his wife, Carol, of Dorset, and Thomas Cooper and his wife, Emily, of Watertown, Mass.; three grandchildren, Chris and Andy Morrow and Joanna Leeds, and four great-grandchildren.

MEMORIAL NOTICE: A gathering in Emily's memory will be held on Jan. 23 at 4 p.m. at her former home, 54 Kirby Hollow Road in Dorset.
