HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Emily M. Harrington, 63, widow of Gerald A. Harrington Sr., a resident of White Creek, died Monday, Dec. 8 2003 at her brother and sister-in-law’s home, Frank and Barbara Ruggles, following a long illness.

Born in Cambridge on July 13, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Frank V. and Mabel (Brimmer) Ruggles. She received her education in Troy.

Mr. and Mrs. Harrington were married in White Creek in 1980. Mr. Harrington died Nov. 24, 1994. In earlier years, Mrs. Harrington was employed at Peggy’s Restaurant in Walloomsac as a waitress and bartender. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose in Bennington, Vt., the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary No. 2467 in Hoosick Falls and the American Legion Post 634 Auxiliary in Cambridge.

Mrs. Harrington enjoyed playing cards, bowling and traveling.

Survivors include her fiancé John Paul Finch of Hoosick Falls; a son Edward Redcross Jr. of White Creek; three daughters, Tammie Ruggles of Troy, Catherine Sousie and Michelle Crandall both of White Creek; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; seven sisters, Mabel Bryant of Hoosick Falls, Ruth Allen of Hoosick Falls, Doris Hunt of’ Cambridge, Marilyn Watkins of Dalesville, Ala., Frances Ormsbee of Bernhards Bay, Lorraine Burnett of Greenfield Center and Lillian Smith of Dalesville, Ala.; five brothers, John Ruggles of Salem, Amos Brimmer of Pownal, Vt., Samuel Ruggles of Hebron, Frank Ruggles of Hoosick Falls, and Lawrence Gates of Pownal, Vt.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a son, Erin W. Gibbons Jr., and three brothers, Donald Ruggles, Arthur Gates and Raymond Gates.

At the request of Mrs. Harrington there will be no services held at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Rosewood Cemetery in White Creek in the spring
