Enid Fienberg BENNINGTON Enid Saltzman Fienberg, 78, widow of Oscar Fienberg, died on Nov. 8, 2008, at the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain. Enid was born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., graduating from Erasmus Hall High School in 1948. She attended Brooklyn College and later received her B.S. in Education from North Adams State College in Massachusetts in 1981. She completed her Masters in Education from Castleton College, Vt., in 1986. In 1958, Enid married Oscar Fienberg, owner of the Home Furnishing Company of Bennington, Vt. They lived in Bennington for many years, during which time Enid worked as a reading specialist and tutor. Enid and Oscar retired to Bradenton, Fla., and later lived in Sun City Center. Oscar passed away in Dec. 2002. In 2007, Enid moved to New Britain to be closer to her family. Enid always sought to help and inspire others. An accomplished pianist, she shared her love of music with her family, friends and students. As a reading specialist, she touched the lives of many children who benefited from her dedication, intelligence, skills and loving nature. Enid died after a long illness that she endured with great strength and courage. She is survived by her brothers, Lawrence Saltzman and his wife, Anita, of Pompton Plains, New Jersey, and Marvin Saltzman, MD and his wife, Sylvia, of Plainville, CT, and numerous cherished nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, a grand-nephew and her beloved Chihuahuas. She will be mourned by her family and many close friends across the country. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Greater Hartford Coalition for Literacy, Pets for the Elderly, or any other charity of your choosing.
