Erma Wright 1934 - 2008 WOODFORD Erma Mable Wright, 74, of Harbour Road, died early Friday morning at her residence surrounded by her family and friends. The daughter of John Henry " Neal and Letha Paula Kinney, Erma was born and raised on Sept. 15, 1934, in California Settlement, New Brunswick Province, Canada, along with her brothers Vernon O'Neal and John O'Neal. She received her education through the California Settlement School system where she played both varsity women's ice hockey and basketball. Erma married James Wright of Woodford in California settlement on Nov. 16, 1951. They moved to Woodford shortly thereafter and went on to raise six children. Before retirement Erma worked for the Mt. Anthony Union High School and Eveready Battery Company. Active in the community, Erma was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Women of the Moose Lodge 1223, VFW Auxiliary 1332 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 13. Erma enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren's sporting events, playing bingo and card games with her friends, and traveling. She avidly watched Yankee games despite raising a family of Red Sox fans. She leaves four sons and daughters-in-law, Steven John and Susan Wright, Ronald Frederick and Pae Wright, James Owen and Laurie Wright, all of Woodford, and Robert Allen and Ada Wright of Bennington; 10 grandchildren, Kerby Wright and his wife, Julie, James Wright and his wife, Jenn, T.J. Wright, Ron Wright Jr., Andre "A.J." Wright, Nicholas Wright and his wife, Jo, Jonathan Wright, Todd and Amanda Bubier, Kieth and Haley Bubier, and Henry and Heather Hart; 13 great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ciara, James, Ashlyn, Sara, Catlyn, Kearia, Colin, Kylee, Phillip, Tyler, Thomas and Taegyn; two brothers, James O'Neal of Limestone, Maine, and John O'Neal and his wife, Sharon of Bangor, Maine, several nieces and nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a son Arnold "Arnie" Wright, and daughter, Lowanna ellen wright. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME, Monday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robin Greene, officiating. Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, Monday from noon until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
