TUCSON, Ariz. -- Erna Luise Halbur, 50, died on April 3, 2007, in Tucson where she had resided for the past four years.

She was born on April 21, 1956, in San Francisco, Calif., to Bernard “Ben” Halbur and Ann Lewis Halbur. She moved with her family to Arlington, Vt., in 1960.

She was a graduate of Arlington Memorial High School, class of 1974, where she was an outstanding athlete in field hockey, basketball and softball. She was also a graduate of Dean Junior College in Franklin, Mass., where she majored in recreational management and was a member of the women’s field hockey team.

She was employed in hotel management in Connecticut, Virginia, Washington D.C., and South Carolina for over 25 years and most recently was employed in the construction field in Tucson.

She was predeceased by her father in 1978 and her mother in 2000.

She is survived by her four brothers and their spouses, Harvey and Pamela Halbur of East Arlington, Vt., John and Kathy Halbur of Cary, N.C., Dale and Shannon Halbur of Saudi Arabia and Paul “ Fritter” and Wieska Halbur of Wilmington, Vt.

She is also survived by her eight nieces and nephews, Ben Halbur of East Arlington, Derrick and Jonathan Halbur of Cary, Petra Halbur of Saudi Arabia and Katherine, Keylor, Chandler and Kirstin Halbur of Wilmington, several cousins, and her close friend Bruce Rusckiewicz of Tucson, Arizona.

A memorial gathering will be held at a later date.
