Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mr. Ernest G. Sirois Sr. were held at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home on Monday afternoon June 18.

Conducting the service was the Reverend Philip Garrippa, assisting Rev. Garrippa was Mr. Sirois’ brother, the Rev. Richard Sirois who reflected upon his brothers life, family and his spiritual beliefs.

Special musical selections were chosen for the service including “On The Road Again,” “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art” and “That’s My Job” by Conway Twitty. Personal reflections and memories were offered by a granddaughter Kimberly Sirois, brother in law Francis Carr and Shirley King, poems were read by granddaughter Brandy Setzer and William Barber. Honorary bearers were Butch Green and Mickey Gates.

Burial with full military honors were took place at the family lot on Hinsdillville Cemetery with Reverend Garrippa and Reverend Sirois offering the committal prayers. Reverend Garrippa sang “Sheltered in the Arms of Jesus,” the Lord’s prayer was recited in unison. Military honors were accorded the US Marine Korean War veteran by members of the Army National Guard under the direction of Sargent M. Carvey, the firing squad consisted of Cadet Kimberly Hale, PFC Marice Sargent and Sargent B. Fraker, taps were sounded by Staff SGT Carl Smith, the American flag was folded by SGT Carvey and Staff SGT Smith and presented to Mr. Sirois’ son Ernest Jr..

Serving as bearers were a brother Richard Sirois, grandson Steven Pratt, son in law Ken Baker, grandson in law Rick Setzer and friends Arthur and Richard Barber. A reception was held at the Beech Street Firehouse following the graveside services.

On Sunday evening at the funeral home a prayer service was held with Reverend Sirois officiating.

Mr. Sirois, 69, a resident of Chapel Road died June 14 at the Stratton Veterans Medical Center in Albany, N.Y., following a lengthy illness.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington.
