Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Ethel B. Lake, 84, died Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Ethel was the wife of the late James Lake. They formerly resided in White Creek, N.Y.

Ethel was born on May 21, 1921 in White Plains, N.Y., daughter of William and Maria (Valentine) Briggs. In her earlier years Ethel was involved with the Cub Scouts as a den mother. She was very active at the Jermain United Methodist Church in White Creek.

Survivors include her daughter, Michelle Lake of San Diego, Calif.; two sons, Stephen B. Lake of Saratoga, N.Y. and James C. Lake of Farmington Hills, Mich.; five grandchildren, Jason Galusha, Matthew Lake, Andrew Lake, Peter Davis and Nathan Davis; and one great-grandson, Noah Davis. Ethel is predeceased by two brothers, Wallace and Edward Briggs.

Funeral services will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. from the Jermain United Methodist Church in White Creek. Burial will follow the service at Woodlands Cemetery in Cambridge, N.Y.

Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main St., Hoosick Falls, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jermain United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
