NORTH POWNAL -- Ethel (Phillips) Brudick, 78, former resident of Skiparee Road in North Pownal, beloved wife of Harvey Burdick Jr. passed away Saturday morning, Aug. 4, 2007, at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington.

Born in Hoosick, N.Y., on June 30, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Lester Phillips and Fannie(Jones, Phillips) Hall. She received her education at Hoosick Falls High School. She also attended Beautician school in Troy, N.Y. Ethel ran a beauty shop for years in Hoosick Falls before moving the business to her home in North Pownal.

Ethel enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, too. She was a great hunter and fisher woman. She enjoyed doing crafts with family or friends. She also enjoyed making wedding and anniversary cakes.

Survivors include her husband, Harvey Burdick Jr. of North Pownal; her children, Barry Burdick and his wife MaryLou of Cheshire, Mass., Cathy Racicot and her husband John of North Pownal, Judy Protchko and her husband Chris of Dillsburg, Pa.; six grandchildren, Amy Squires and her husband Roy, Katie Burdick, Stacey Muscato and her husband Jim, Keith Racicot, Shannon Jacobs and Morgan Jacobs; two sisters, Ramona Bornt and Louise Gardner; three great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Mrs. Burdick was predeceased by her brother Martin Phillips; half-brother Gary Hall; and half-sister Sharon Rogers.

There will be no calling hours per her request. Donations in her memory can be made to the Activities Fund at the Vermont Vererans Home or to the Green Mountain Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Foundation through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
