Ethelouise Carpenter ARLINGTON, VT Ethelouise Carpenter, 96, of Arlington died Feb. 12, 2011, at her home. Her son, Terry, was at her bedside. She had lived in Arlington since 1976.Known most of her life as Teasie, she was born in Richford, Vt., daughter of Clinton M. Boright and Georgia Martin Boright. She graduated from the Richford schools, attended the University of Wisconsin, received a bachelor's degree in education from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, and a master's in education from Indiana University, Bloomington, Ind. She loved children and taught kindergarten and elementary grades in Illinois, Wisconsin, Kentucky, La Paz Bolivia, Ohio and New York and was headmistress of The Country Day School in Mansfield, Ohio. She retired as an Associate Professor of Early Childhood Education at Kent State University, Kent, Ohio. After retiring to her native Vermont, Mrs. Carpenter particularly enjoyed winter sports, being an experienced skier and an accomplished ice skater. She liked to tell of breaking her hip ice skating at age 88. She recovered quickly from the injury and resumed skating for several more years. In Arlington, she was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels and American Red Cross. She is survived by her son, Terry, of Jenkintown, Pa., and Arlington and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Betty Thackery, and a brother, George Melvin Boright. FUNERAL NOTICE: Burial will take place in the spring in Richford, VT.
