Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Eunice C. Sawyer, 87, widow of Albert E. Sawyer, a resident of Sawyer Drive, died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003 at Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington following a long illness.

Born in Waterbury, Conn., Dec. 16, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Hazel (Smith) Dorman. She received her education in the Bennington schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Sawyer were married Feb. 2, 1932 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Mr. Sawyer died Oct. 31, 1993.

In earlier years Mrs. Sawyer was employed at the former EZ Mills, Union Carbide Corporation and Thomson Manufacturing Company. Her home and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, were her main interests.

She also enjoyed cooking, crocheting and making afghans.

Survivors include four children and their spouses, Dorothy Foster and her husband Paul of North Pownal, Nancy Farnum and her husband Fred of East Pownal, Sandra Harrington and her husband James II of East Hampton, Conn., Kenneth E. Sawyer and his wife Judy of East Pownal; 14 gGrandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.

Mrs. Sawyer was predeceased by a grandson, Paul A. Foster and four sisters and brothers, Dorothy Carpenter, Mildred Burgess, Harold Dorman and Philip Dorman.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003 at 10 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10:30 a.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and Burial will be offered.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday from 5 to 8 p. m. when the family will be in attendance. The Wake Service will be offered Monday evening.

Burial will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.
