Obituary Condolences

SHAFTSBURY -- Eva Donovan, 73, widow of Stephen C. Donovan and a resident of West Mountain Road, Shaftsbury, died peacefully at her home on Friday, April 15, 2005, surrounded by her family.

Born in Oslo, Norway, Jan. 10, 1932, she received her early education in Oslo and later graduated from Curtis High School in Staten Island, N.Y. Mr. and Mrs. Donovan were married Feb. 7, 1953 in Staten Island. Mr. Donovan died Aug. 29, 1992.

Prior to moving to Vermont, Mrs. Donovan had been employed for 30 years at Proctor and Gamble in New York.

She was a member of the Sons of Norway and, since living in Shaftsbury, had been a member of the Red Hatters Association.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Tom and Linda Donovan of Springfield; a daughter, Gail L. Smolka and her partner Nils Lambert of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Frances Bianco of Effort, Pa.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home on Monday, April 18, 2005 at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Lisa Anderson, pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Shaftsbury, officiating.

Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury Cemetery.
