Eve C. Baker 1945 - 2008 HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. Eve C. Baker 63, passed on into the arms of Our Lord on Aug. 4, 2008, following a lengthy illness. Born on June 8, 1945, daughter of the late William H. and Eva C. Wolff Burns, Eve graduated Valedictorian of the class of 1963 from St. Mary's Academy in Hoosick Falls and attended St. Joseph's College (S.V.C.) in Bennington, Vt., obtaining a degree in business administration. Eve briefly worked in the public relations department at Bennington College, and was a legal secretary for nearly 40 years. She was employed by the late George Dougherty Jr. and, for the past 35 years, by Gerald A. Harley. Gerry was not only her employer, but a close and trusted family friend. Eve leaves her best friend and husband of 38 years, Bruce E. Baker. They resided in Hoosick Falls and more recently in Petersburg, N.Y. For several years, she and her family enjoyed their summers with their travel trailer at Lake Lauderdale Campground. Her passion was her art, working with pastels and charcoals, was an avid reader, and loved and befriended every dog, even strays, leaving behind her faithful cocker spaniel, Oreo. Eve's greatest gift and devotion was to her beloved daughter Kristin Baker-Woffenden and son-in-law, John. She adored them both as well as her "adopted" daughter, Amanda Harley Ford and her two children, Lilliana and Thomas. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. FUNERAL NOTICE: There will be no calling hours. A graveside service for family and friends will be Monday Aug. 11, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the Eddy Memorial Geriatrics Center, 2256 Burdett Avenue, Troy, NY.
