HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Evelyn M. Twiss Bulan, 85, of Ball Street, died on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2004, at her residence under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

Born March 1, 1919 in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Elwood and Irene Howe Twiss. She was the wife of the late John S. Bulan, who died on April 15, 2000. Evelyn was a graduate of East Greenbush High School and worked as a welder during World War II. She also was employed by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles as an insurance clerk for more than 15 years. Mrs. Bulan enjoyed traveling, especially to the Middle East and throughout the United States. She was a member of the North Pownal Congregational Church and enjoyed playing the piano.

Survivors include her two sons, the Rev. Gary C. (Margaret) Rogers, with whom she lived and the Rev. Ronald F. (Donna) Rogers of Richmond, Va.; her stepchildren, Barbara Mooney of Clifton Park, Elizabeth Kendgia of Madison, Wis. and Clark Bulan of Castleton; a daughter-in-law, Brenda Rogers of Albany; four boys she raised with her family, Richard, George, Robert and Michael Zipp; a sister, Irene Bingham of East Nassau; her grandchildren, Tracy (David) Regimbald, Shawn (Alison) Rogers, the Rev. Wade (Noralee) Rogers, Erik Rogers, Robert Zipp and Sharon Rogers; her great-grandchildren, Adam, Alexandra, Violet and Micah; along with many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters, Florence Rogers, Dorothy Fisher, Eleanor Ryan and Mary Burke.

Funeral services for Evelyn will be on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the North Pownal Congregational Church, Route 346, North Pownal, Vt., officiated by her grandson, the Rev. Wade Rogers of the Iva First Wesleyan Church of Iva, S.C. Interment will follow in the East Nassau Cemetery, East Nassau.
