Everett J. "Bud" Croscup Jr. 1928 - 2009 BENNINGTON Everett J. "Bud" Croscup Jr., 80, of South Stream Road passed away peacefully Friday morning, Jan. 9, 2009, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington. Everett was born in Weymouth, Mass., on July 23, 1928, the son of Everett and Miriam Miranda Croscup and received his early education in Wellesley, Mass., schools. Everett enlisted in the Navy and served his country post World War II from 1946-1949. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, Everett attended Thayer Academy in Boston and graduated from Boston University earning his Bachelor's Degree. After graduation, Everett went to work as a sales representative for his uncle's business and, after moving to the state of Washington, he worked for Firestone. Everett moved to New York where he owned and operated the Sherwood Inn in Essex and worked as a field representative for trading stamp companies, which included Plaid Stamps. Upon moving to Bennington, Everett was the college representative for the Scott Foresman Book Company and with his wife Lucille owned Clever Crafts which was formerly located in Monument Plaza. Everett concluded his working career as manager for Folmsbee and Dufour Bus Companies, including driving the bus. Everett loved restoring and building classic cars, which included a Jaguar SS100 and his latest restoration project of a 1957 TR3. He enjoyed reading, and loved spending time at his home on South Stream Road. Everett was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, the American Legion Post 13 in Bennington, the National Ski Patrol where he served as administrator and patrolman for Southern Vermont and as a regular patrolman at Prospect Mountain. He also served as a Red Cross Safety Instructor and School Bus Safety Instructor. Everett was also a private pilot and a member of the Bennington Flying Club. Everett leaves his wife of 44 years, the former Lucille Weichert of Bennington, whom he married in 1964 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington; his daughters, Robin Fitch of Snohomish, Wash., Sharon Day of East Wenatchee, Wash., and Sheryl Ganson of Henderson, Nev., and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the life of Everett J. "Bud" Croscup, Jr. will be held Tuesday Jan. 13, 2009, at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Episcopal Church. Rector Mother Anita Schell-Lambert will be the celebrant. Interment will be held at a later date in Park Lawn Cemetery. Visiting hours will be today, Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, from 4 to 7p.m. at HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, 213 West Main St., Bennington, when the family will be in attendance.
