TUPPER LAKE, N.Y. -- Florence E. Blake, 79, a resident of Sunmount Home in Tupper Lake, died on Jan. 28, 2005, following a long illness.

She was one of two children who were born to Henry E. and Elizabeth (Stuart) Blake. She was born in Bennington, Vt. on Feb. 5, 1925. Her father died on May 23, 1963 and her mother on May 1, 1968. Ms. Blake attended school in Bennington for about one and a half years, but was not able to grasp the work. Florence lived at home until the age of 19, when she was admitted to the Brattleboro Retreat in Brattleboro, Vt., where she lived until she was transferred to the St. Lawrence Center in November 1970. She has also resided at Roswell Park Memorial Institute and at the Buffalo (N.Y.) State Hospital. Florence was transferred to the Sunmount in 1989.

Ms. Blake was very fond of animals, especially dogs and rabbits. She leaves her own cat. Florence preferred passive activity such as looking at magazines and listening to music.

Ms. Blake is survived by one nephew, John Elie of Troy.

Services for Ms. Blake will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
