Florence Danville Obituary
Florence C. Danville

1931 - 2014 SHAFTSBURY Florence Catherine Miles Danville, 83, of Eleanor's Way, in Shaftsbury, died peacefully at home, on April 4, 2014. Florence was born in New York City on Jan. 19, 1931, a daughter of the late Wilbur and Catherine Miles. A graduate of Julia Richman High School, she was employed by Hearst Publications, Metropolitan Life, Bloomingdale's, and Lanvin/Charles of the Ritz, from which she retired in 1998. She was an accomplished knitter, sewer, and quilter, and enjoyed flower gardening. On June 15, 1952, she married Bela Danville in New York City. They would later move to Hazlet, N.J., prompting her brother, Bobby, to name them "Mr. and Mrs. Picket Fence," where they raised their three children. She and her husband were active in the Scouting, church, and school activities of their children, and her home was always open to visits from her brothers and sisters. In 1991, they moved to Shaftsbury, where they had built a home for their retirement. She was predeceased by her beloved husband on Dec. 21, 2002. Survivors include her son, Andrew and his wife, Dawn, of Port Monmouth, N.J.; daughter, Arlene of Bennington; son, Eric of New York City; her grandchildren, David, Danielle, Adam, and Jessica; five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; her sister, Jane Schwarz, and brothers, William and Frank. She was predeceased by her brothers Warren, Robert, and Richard and her sisters, Dorothy and Caroline. Florence was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She was, in short, simply fabulous. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be private. Burial will be at the Center Shaftsbury Cemetery. Should friends desire, contributions may be made to Rolling Dog Farm, through MAHAR SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
