BENNINGTON -- Florence Mason Peckham, 83, died Tuesday October 28, 2003 at Crescent Manor Care Center following a long illness.

She was born in Petersburg, N.Y., Sept. 21, 1920. She was the daughter of the late William Henry Mason and the former Maude Edith (Littlefield) Mason. Florence was educated in the Petersburg and Hoosick Falls School. She was one of five siblings.

She was the wife of the late Harold L. Peckham Sr. of Hoosick New York where she resided for 36 years and lived in Bennington for the past 20 years. For 48 years she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hoosick, N.Y., she was a deaconess, she served in the women’s group “The Crusaders,” and was a choir member.

She was a wonderful dedicated mother and friend, she enjoyed needlework, gardening and ceramics.

Survivors include two sons Harold L. Peckham Jr. of Hoosick Falls, William M. Peckham of North Carolina. Four daughters Mary R. Gorton of Berlin, N.Y., Susan A. Begin of Williamstown, Mass., Linda F. Okerman of Hoosick and Evelyn D. Iskowitz of Bennington; 16 grandchildren, Harold Peckham of California, Raymond Peckham of New York, Michelle Peckham of New York, Deborah Jaeger of New York, Christine Dietsch of Georgia, Tammy Putnam of North Carolina, Eric Peckham of New York Michael Begin of Massachusetts, James and John Begin both of New York, Richard and Jeffrey Okerman of New York, Reuben and Roxy Iskowitz of Vermont; 10 great-grandchildren Tyler Peckham, Kelton Dietsch, Paige Gorton, Alana Putnam, Emily and Jakob Peckham, Daniel Okerman, Mitchell, Matthew and Molly Begin; her twin sister Frances Mason Dempsey of Latham, N.Y., and a sister Annette Cerrone of Castleton, N.Y. Several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Evelyn M Mason Moon, Luella Mason Hubbard and a brother William Mason.

The funeral will be held from the Hoosick Baptist Church Friday, Oct. 31, 2003 at at 2 p.m. with the pastor, David Hall, officiating.

Friends may call at the Hoosick Baptist Church Friday from 1 to 2 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

The burial will take place in the family lot in Maple Grove Cemetery, Hoosick Falls, New York.
