Florence Matatt 1923-2011 HOOSICK FALLS, NY Florence Matatt 88, passed away on Saturday December 31 at the Hoosick Falls Health Center. She resided at the Woodbridge Apartments in Hoosick Falls. Florence was the wife of the late Raymond Matatt who died on May 5, 2000; they were married on September 15, 1946. Florence was born on May 20, 1923 in Hoosick Falls, N.Y., daughter of the late Joseph and Marya (Slonina) Bachorz. She attended school in Hoosick Falls and worked at the former Undergarment in Hoosick Falls. Florence volunteered at the Health Center, was a member of the Senior Citizens. She enjoyed cooking, baking, doing puzzles at Woodbridge and spending time with her grandchildren. She was also a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church in Hoosick Falls. Survivors include her children David Matatt (Marianne) of Troy, N.Y., Patrick Matatt (Cindy) of Weirsdale, Fla., Gail Matatt (John Esmond) of Albany, N.Y., Judy White (Brian), Michael Matatt (Susan) all of Hoosick Falls, Arthur Matatt (Carol Arnold) of Cambridge, N.Y., sister Anne Yurewitch, brother Frederick Bachorz, sister-in-laws Caroline Bachorz and Judy Bachorz all of Hoosick Falls, sister-in-law Lillian Reed of Fla. Florence is also survived by eighteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Florence is predeceased by six sisters Elizabeth Jordan, Josephine Bachorz, Mary Chapones, Helen Angermund, Genevieve Durkin and Marjorie Hearns, and four brothers Francis, Michael, Albert and Joseph Bachorz. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Wednesday January 4, at 10 a.m. from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls. Relatives and friends may call at the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls on Tuesday January 3 from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either the Hoosick Falls Health Center or the Town of Hoosick Rescue Squad through the funeral home.
