Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Florence T. Kalinowski were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church on Friday, March 31, 2006, where the Mass of resurrection was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, associate pastor.

Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray. Hymns offered during the service were “Ave Maria,” “On Eagles Wings” and “Precious Lord, Take My Hand.” Two other hymns, “Be Not Afraid” and “Here I Am Lord” were sung by a close family friend, John Lipinski.

The funeral pall that draped Mrs. Kalinowski’s casket during the funeral mass was placed by Loreen Kalinowski, a daughter-in-law, and by three grandchildren, Dallas, Erin and Julie. A wooden cross was then laid on the casket by her daughter, Terry Lipinski. The scriptural readings were offered by four grandchildren, Sara, Jessica, Katie and Whitney. The offertory gifts were presented by Bonnie Kalinowski, a daughter-in-law, Morgan, a grandson, and Don Melillo, a family friend. Words of remembrance were given by Robert Kalinowski Jr., a son and a poem was read by Joyce Dufresne, a daughter.

Bearers were Edward Kalinowski, a son, Jay Burnell, a son-in-law, R.J. Kalinowski and Jon Burnell, grandsons, Anthony Kalinowski, a brother-in-law, and Lt. Steven Poirot, Vermont State Police, a family friend.

Serving as acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Joseph Anton, Francis Sausville and Dr. Barth VanderEls.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass.

Several members of the Vermont State Police formed an honor guard both at the funeral home on Thursday evening and during the services on Friday. Mrs. Kalinowski’s son, Robert Jr., is a sergeant with the Vermont State Police.

On Thursday evening, Father Coppola offered the wake service at the funeral home.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers. Bagpipe selections were offered at both the church and cemetery by Cpl. Edward Hunter of the Vermont State Police.

A reception was held at the Bennington Elks lodge following the services.

Mrs. Kalinowski, a resident of West Street, died March 28, 2006, at Crescent Manor Care Centers in Bennington.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
