Floyd J. Leach

1926 - 2014 DANBURY CONN. Floyd J. Leach, age 88, a resident of Danbury, Conn. died on Monday, Dec. 15. He was born on May 6, 1926 in Danbury, to the late Leroy and Mary (Doolan) Leach. He attended Danbury High School and served with the Seabees in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Floyd married Dolores B. Walters on June 6, 1946 at St. Peter's Church in Danbury. He owned and operated Floyd's Pump Service and was always available to his customers. No matter if it was a holiday or the middle of the night he would go out to make sure they had running water. More than once his wife was right beside him holding a flashlight while he worked. He was always on the move, accepting invitations, learning new things and could converse on any topic. At 87 he discovered e-mail so he could stay close to family. He especially loved spending time with his special canine neighbor and best buddy, Jack. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Danbury. Floyd is survived by son, Terry M. Leach of Danbury; daughter, Deborah R. Carey and her husband, Robert, of Shaftsbury; grandchildren, Julie Bushee and her husband, James, Jeremy Carey, and Nicole Cave and her husband, Charles, all of Bennington; great-grandchildren, Justin Carey, Noelle Cave, Drelend Carey, and Ariana Bushee; brother-in-law, James Walters; and sister-in-law, Marlene Santako, both of Connecticut. Floyd was predeceased by his wife, Dolores; his son, James K. Leach; brother, George Leach; and sister, Dorothy Boyer. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Mass of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at 1 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
