Floyd William "Turk" Pratt Jr. 1935 - 2008 POWNAL CENTER Floyd William "Turk" Pratt Jr., 72, of Church Street died Wednesday, June 18, 2008, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born in Williamstown, Mass., on Sept. 6, 1935, son of Floyd William Pratt Sr. and Fannie Ella O'Dell Pratt, he received his education in Pownal. Mr. Pratt served in the Army National Guard. In earlier years, Mr. Pratt had been employed at both the General Cable Company and the former Sprague Electric. He later was employed at NSK in Bennington from which he retired. Floyd enjoyed hunting, fishing, stock car racing and camping. He leaves his wife, the former Eleanor Burdick, whom he married May 1, 1954 in North Pownal. Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, David Pratt and his friend, Alice, of Pownal, and Steven Pratt and his wife, Madeline, of Pownal; a daughter Nancy Rodd of Bennington; two sisters, Doris Gian and Sandra Krawcztk and her husband, Jerry, all of Pownal, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be Friday, June 20, 2008, at 1 p.m. at MAHAR and SON FUNERAL HOME. Burial will take place in the family lot in Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal. Friends may call at the funeral home today, Thursday, June 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. If friends desire, contributions in memory of Floyd William "Turk" Pratt Jr. may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center through the office of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
