READSBORO -- Mrs. Frances Jane (Gorczakowski) Gordon, 86, of Potter Hill Road, Readsboro, died Monday night, June 28, 2004, at her home following a long illness.

She was born in the Mountain Mills Section of Wilmington on Aug. 22, 1917, a daughter of the late Domenick Gorczakowski and Michalina “Minnie” (Pieczechna) Gorczakowski. She moved to Readsboro with her family and was educated in Readsboro schools. In her younger years before her marriage, she was employed in home care and housekeeping. After raising her family, she was employed for 15 years with the former Readsboro Chair Shop in Readsboro until her retirement in 1980.

She was a communicant of St. Joachim Church of Readsboro, and a devoted homemaker for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Henry Francis Gordon, whom she married on Aug. 31, 1940 in St. Joachim Church, Readsboro; two daughters, Carolyn Levesque and her husband Joseph of Suffield, Conn. and Sylvia Cristaldi and her husband Steven of Shushan, N.Y.; three sons, Richard H. Gordon and his wife Barbara of Jacksonville, Ronald P. Gordon and his wife RoseMary of Rowe, Mass. and James P. Gordon and his wife Joanne of Lawrenceville, Ga.; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Pikul of Adams, Mass.; and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Anna Gorczakowski, and two brothers, Stanley Gorczakowski and Joseph Gorczakowski.

Funeral services for Frances Gordon will take place Thursday, July 1, at 11 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, Mass., with the Rev. Joseph Tate, pastor of St. Joachim Church, officiating.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Village Cemetery, Readsboro.

Calling hours are before the funeral Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, any donations in her memory are suggested for the VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
