Frances Eva Wilcox Therrien

1925-2014 NORTH ADAMS Mrs. Frances Eva Wilcox Therrien, 88 of 85 Eagle St. North Adams, died Monday April 28, 2014 at Sweetbrook Care Center. She was born in North Adams, on May 30, 1925, daughter of Ernest Barber Wilcox and Eva Josephine (Willette) Wilcox. She spent her early years on the Wilcox family farm in North Pownal, Vt. She attended local schools and graduated from the former Hoosick Falls (NY) High School. Frances worked as secretary in Hoosick Falls and later for more than 25 years at the executive office of the former Sprague Electric Co. on Marshall St., now the MassMoCA complex. For most of her life she was an avid reader with a wide-ranging interest in the news. On September 13, 1947, she married Louis Francis Therrien of North Adams, a Marine Corps veteran recently returned from service during World War II. Mr. Therrien died October 28, 1989. They lived for a time in Williamstown and Pownal before purchasing a home in Williamstown in the 1950's, where they lived for more than 20 years. The couple later moved to Florida for several years before returning to live in North Adams. Following her husband's death, Mrs. Therrien lived at Mohawk Forest Apartments and St. Joseph's Court in the city. In failing health, she entered Sweetbrook Nursing Home in Williamstown in August 2012. Survivors include her son, James Therrien of Pownal and her daughter, Jean Rowland of Boynton Beach, FL. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours for Frances Therrien will be Wednesday April 30, 2014 from 4-7 PM at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS CENTRAL CHAPEL, 74 Marshall St. North Adams. Burial will be in Southview cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friendship Center Food Pantry in care of the funeral home.
