Frances W. Bahan 1919 - 2009 SUNDERLAND Frances W. Bahan, 90. of Sunderland Hill Road died Monday morning, June 29, 2009 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness. Born in Bennington on Feb. 16, 1919, daughter of Everett and Florence Mason Wager, she grew up in Bennington and was a 1939 graduate of Bennington High School. For over 40 years, she had cared for area children in her home. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, sewing and traveling. Mrs. Bahan was a life member of the Federated Church of East Arlington and more recently had been attending and became a member of The Chapel on the Green. She was a life member of Red Mountain Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Bennington Lodge of Elks, Home Dem Group, and The Enterprise Society of the East Arlington Methodist Church. She had been a 4-H Leader, had a great sense of humor and was devoted to her family. Her husband, L. Horton Bahan whom she married in Bennington on Aug. 2,1940, passed away in July, 1986. She leaves her son, Philip Bahan and fiancé, Joy Wade, of Sunderland; daughters, Linda Smith of Mesa, Ariz., Sally and husband, Charles Perkins, of North Bennington, Patricia and husband, John Masi Sr., of Bennington, and Wendy Bahan and Shelley Clayton, both of Sunderland; brother, Gerald Wager of Addison; sister, Nancy Harwood of Bennington, 19 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren; her close friend and companion for the last several years, Helen Whitman of West Arlington, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Sarah Bahan; by daughter-in-law, Lois Bahan; by sisters, Eileen Andrews and Florence Maroney, and by brother, Everett Wager. FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services with Order of the Eastern Star Rites will be held Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Mann officiating. The family invites everyone to join them following the service at Grange Hall at The Chapel on the Green for a time of fellowship and refreshment.
