BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Francis Adolphus Sausville were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church where the Mass of Resurrection was concelebrated by the Rev. James Preskenis, c.s.c. pastor, and the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c associate pastor, of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Monica Murray. Musical selections offered during the Mass were “On Eagles Wings,” “Let There Be Peace,” “Here I Am Lord,” “I Am the Bread of Life” and “Be Not Afraid.”

The casket pall was placed on Mr. Sausville’s casket by his two daughters, Susan Marie Sausville and Rebecca Fay Sausville. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by Mr. Sausville’s wife Janet. Roses and candles were presented and placed next to the Pascal Candle by family friends Judy Armstrong, Patricia Bratcher, Mary Flood, Jane Marino, Vicky Trudeau, Betty Tange, Rose Nichols, Lauria Tessier, Noella Boisvert and Rosalie Morgan. The scriptural readings offered by Theodore Hajos and Gerald McMurray. The Prayers of the Faithful were offered by Leonard Anzivino. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Susan Marie Sausville, Rebecca Fay Sausville and two grandsons, Michael Sausville Weaver and Jacob Sausville Smith. Mr. Pete Taylor offered the song “My Tribute”.

Serving as pall bearers were a grandson, Michael Weaver; three nephews, Todd Bruso, William Bruso and David Sausville Jr.; two nieces, Amy Ware and Sarah Sausville; and two family friends, Wallace (Butch) Hayes and Dean Yarnal.

An honor guard was provided by Knights of Columbus Council 307 members Daniel Amadon and Francis Lajeunesse. Acolytes serving on the altar included Leonard Anzivino, Gerald Amadon, Joseph Anton, Bernard Bourgeois, Theodore Hajos, Edward Molloy, Gerald McMurray, John Reed and Dr. Barth Vander Els.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Coppola offering the committal prayers. Full military honors were offered by members of the Bennington Army National Guard. The firing squad led by SGT Carvey consisted of SGT Squires, SSG Bushee, PFC Phillips and SPC Merrill. Taps were sounded by SPC Pagan. The American flag was folded by MSGT Mumley and SSG Smith and presented to Mrs. Sausville.

Following the services a reception was held at the Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Parish Center.

Mr. Francis A. Sausville a resident of Evergreen Drive, Bennington, died Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, in Bennington.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
