ARLINGTON -- Francis “Butch” F. Fischer, 44, a life-long resident of Arlington, died Monday evening, Jan. 8, 2007 at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Bennington on Dec. 4, 1962, the son of Francis E. Fischer and Dorothy “Dot” (Thayer) Fischer. Butch received his education in Arlington schools, graduating from Arlington Memorial High School, class of 1980. Butch worked in the construction field for much of his early adulthood. At the time of his death, Butch was employed by Mack Molding Inc., in Arlington. Butch enjoyed the outdoors and spending time fishing and hunting with his friends and family. Butch was an avid sports fan, especially fond of the New York Mets and the New York Jets. One of Butch’s favorite hobbies was collecting sports cards. He was an avid golfer with three hole in ones to his credit.

Butch is survived by his parents of Arlington; his brother, Gary Fischer, and his wife, Margretta, of Arlington; his sister, Cindy and her husband, Tracy Johnson, of Cambridge, N.Y.; and his sister, Kathy Fischer, of Arlington.

Butch was the proud uncle of several nieces and nephews, Lance Barber, Michael Barber, and Dylan Fischer-Nesbitt of Cambridge, N.Y., and Grace, Aden, Anna, Elizabeth, and Lottie Fischer of Arlington.

Butch was a memorable character and was well loved by many. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 12, 2007, at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Arlington. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Columban’s Cemetery, also in Arlington. Visiting hours will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Route 7A Arlington.
