Francis E. "Butch" Greene, Jr.

1951-2012 Francis E. "Butch" Greene, Jr. age 61, a resident of So. Branch St. , Bennington, died on Tuesday morning, October 30, at his home following a long illness, surrounded by his family.

He was born in Bennington on August 30, 1951, and was the son of the late Francis E. Greene, Sr. and Shirley (Gabert) Greene, who survives. He received his education in local schools. He married the former Christine Plante in Bennington on June 28, 1975, she also survives.

Francis served in the Army National Guard. He had been employed at LeBlanc's Automotive in Bennington, and for several years has owned and operated B+G Automotive in Bennington. Butch was a car enthusiast, who loved antique cars. In earlier years he had raced both stock and drag cars at Lebanon Valley in New York. He had frequently attended the car show in Bennington and Pownal, except for this past year due to illness. He also enjoyed hunting, and collecting guns.

Besides his mother and wife, both of Bennington, Butch is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Kevin Andrews of Pownal, Vt., his son Joshua Greene of Bennington and his daughter and son-in-law Lynn and Adam Darrell of Winslow, Maine. He leaves four grandchildren; Taylor and Callie Andrews, and Ashton and Liam Darrell. Butch has one sister surviving, Lucinda Greene of Bennington and one Aunt, Maude Gabert , as well as two cousins, and his dogs.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held on Thursday afternoon, October 1, 2012 at the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington at 1:30 p.m.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 main St., Bennington on Thursday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
