Francis J. "Frank" Krawczyk

1926-2013 BENNINGTON Francis J. "Frank" Krawczyk, 86, a resident of Washington Avenue, Bennington, died Monday, February 4, 2013 at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington following a long illness.

Born in Bennington December 20, 1926, he was the son of the late Michael and Agnes (Bernat) Krawczyk. Mr. Krawczyk received his education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School. From 1947 to 1951 Frank served in the United States Army.

Frank married the former Marie Alice Rancourt at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington on June 25, 1955. Marie died December 2, 2006.

In earlier years Frank was employed as a milk deliveryman by Horst's Dairy in Bennington. It was on one of his routes where he first met future wife on his regular River Street stop. For 29 years Frank was employed as a Postal Clerk and Carrier at the Bennington Post Office. He was also in demand as a housepainter in the summertime, working with many of the same homeowners over the years.

Frank was an active member of both the Knights of Columbus Council #307 and Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church. He loved his vegetable gardens and had a passion for polka music and dancing. Frank enjoyed snow shoeing and taking his children and their friends sliding in Woodford in the winter and camping at Emerald Lake in the summer. He enjoyed cutting wood and maple sugaring. His family and grandchildren were his main interest.

Survivors include his children, Pamela M. Prouty and her husband Matthew "Scott" Prouty, Francis G. "Bud" Krawczyk, Eileen M. Krawczyk all of Bennington, and Amy M. Krawczyk of Brunswick, Maine; a grandson, Daniel S. Prouty and his wife Andrea, his twin granddaughters, Katie Prouty and her fiance Shawn Briggs and Jennifer Dewey and her husband Matt, and Jessica L. Krawczyk and Kimberly R. Krawczyk, all of Bennington; a great grandchild, Genevieve Briggs of Bennington; three brothers Edward Krawczyk of Bennington, Eugene Krawczyk of Iowa, James Krawczyk of Wisconsin and a sister, Helen Rogalski of Bennington; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was pre-deceased by three sisters, Ann, Jeanette and Mary

The funeral will be held from the MAHAR & SON FUNERAL HOME Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 11 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered.

Friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday, February 6, from 4 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Should friends desire memorial contributions in Francis J. Krawczyk's memory may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home Activities Fund through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.

All members of the Knights of Columbus Council # 307 are requested to meet at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. for the recitation of the Rosary
