Francis Snide Obituary
Francis Snide

PITTSFIELD Fran, Franny, Dad, Daddy, Daddy-o, Pa, Poppa, Pepe; ended his time on earth early Monday morning, June 15th, 2015 at his home, surrounded by loved ones. He had just spent the weekend doing what he loved; spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and friends; while camping and filling all with even more memories to cherish of this astounding man. He leaves behind Bernadette his wife and helpmate of 44 years; his children: Michael and Lisa Snide, Richard Snide, Dale and Meagan Snide, Paul and Katrina Snide, Dawn Snide, Carrie Snide, Phillip and Tiffany Elliott, Christopher and Michael Snide; 11 grandchildren and a whole host of nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. He was a man of a different generation; fiercely devoted to his wife and children, he would do anything to help and care for them. His love of being a father created a desire in each of his sons to want to be like him and his daughters to find a man like him. A true role model; setting a standard of what it means to be a man and follower of Christ. A proud veteran of the Air Force, a Harley rider, always ready to have enjoy life with his family and an example to all of how to conduct our lives with love and grace. He served his nation proudly in the Air Force, willing to argue with anyone that the Air Force was the best branch of the military, stationed in Alaska during Vietnam, he came home with a keen dislike of fish and a heroic story of stopping a Kodiak Bear in its tracks with his .357. His smile was always cool as he rode the curvy roads of Pownal on his Harley. Ever ready to play with the grandkids, entertain with a child-like sense of play, do a head stand because he still could, challenge his sons to a wrestling match, go hunting with the boys, enjoy a game, rebuild his kitchen cabinets by hand or hop on a plane to explore England and witness the love his youngest daughter found. All the stories are nothing compared to the legacy he leaves of how important it is to love well, love as Christ, and to always be gentle. FUNERAL NOTICE: He now stands before the throne of God above. You may join the family in a celebration of His life on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at 11 am at the Christian Fellowship Church in Pownal, VT.
