BENNINGTON -- Frank E. Clarkson, 74, of Shrewsbury, Mass., formerly of Concord, Mass., died on Saturday, July 15, 2006, at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., following a heart attack.

Born in Concord on June 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Cutter) Clarkson and John W. Clarkson. He graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy in 1950, Middlebury College in 1954 and received an M.A. and Ph.D. in psychology from Clark University in Worcester.

For many years, he worked as a psychologist at Worcester State Hospital. He was a member of the American Psychological Association.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Jocelyn (Manzer) Clarkson; a daughter, Jennifer Clarkson-Smith, and her husband, Bruce Smith, of Bennington; his son, Bob Clarkson, and his wife, Lynn, of Rockport, Mass.; and four grandchildren, Caitlin and Michael Smith and Benjamin and Ethan Clarkson.

There are no visiting hours. Funeral services for the immediate family will be held in the Farrar Chapel of the Dee Funeral Home in Concord. Burial will follow in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Concord.
