Frank G. Shattuck II 1918-2008 BENNINGTON Frank G. Shattuck II, 89, formerly of Dorset, and Hill Shadow Road in Bennington, died peacefully Saturday morning, May 24, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., on Sept. 21, 1918, son of Frank M. and Genevieve Hannon Shattuck, he received his education in Syracuse schools and graduated from Cathedral Academy High School in Syracuse. Upon graduation he attended Georgetown University, where he majored in Philosophy and English Literature and earned his bachelor's degree. An Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, he achieved the rank of captain Frank was the president of Schrafft's, Frank G. Shattuck, Co. He was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church. His wife, the former Frances Kennedy Kelly, whom he married Sept. 17, 1945 in St. Augustine's Church in Larchmont, N,Y., died Aug. 30, 2001. Frank leaves his children, Frank Shattuck of North Bennington, Cornelius Shattuck and his wife, Deem of Manchester, Frances Jane Leta of East Dorset, Mary Shattuck of Newburyport, Mass., Laura Chila and her husband, Tim, of Wallingford, Margaret Shattuck of Gladwyne, Penn., and Susan Ide and her husband, David, of Richmond; nine grandchildren, and a great-grandchild; his brothers, George Shattuck of Cazenovia, N.Y., and Gerald Shattuck of Brooklyn, N.Y., and his sister, Eudora Watson of Fayettville, N.Y. He was predeceased by his sister, Genevieve Redmond. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services for Frank will be Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at 10:15 a.m from HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL, 213 West Main St., followed with a Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday, May 27, from 5 to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
