PETERSBURGH, N.Y. -- Frank S. “Burger “ Hathaway, 67, of River Road, died on Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center after being stricken at his residence.

Born in North Hoosick on Aug. 11, 1937, he was the son of the late Seymour W. and Ethel Mattison Hathaway. His first wife, Sally Margaret Spencer Hathaway, died on July 26, 1982. He and current wife, the former Gladys K. Marthiljokni, were married on June 7, 1985.

Burger attended Hoosick Falls schools and worked in the Nancy Shoe Co. there. He retired in 1992 after 25 years of service with the New York State Department of Transportation where he was a supervisor in the North Petersburgh station. Burger was a 25 year member of the Petersburgh Volunteer Fire Department. In retirement, he enjoyed his garden and growing hot peppers.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys K. Hathaway; step-children, Katharine Willis of Grafton, Matt Rinaldo of Worcester, Mass.; his step-grandchildren, Katlyn, Jon and Casey Willis; his siblings, Betty McManus of Cooperstown, George and Marvin Hathaway of Bennington, Vt., Ruth of Boston; along with many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be on Monday at 11 a.m. in the Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home, 66 Armsby Road, Petersburgh. Interment will follow, in the Meadowlawn Cemetery on Hewitt Road.

Relatives and friends are invited to the funeral home on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. for visitation.

The family request in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Burger’s memory to either the Petersburgh Rescue Squad or the Petersburgh Volunteer Fire Department.
