SIDNEY, Maine -- Frank E. Steinmeyer, 95, of West River Road, died Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at his home. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Dec. 26, 1911, the son of Henry Steinmeyer and Jessie (Walters) Steinmeyer.

Frank was a graduate of Brooklyn Tech High School and Pratt Institute of Brooklyn, N.Y.

He was employed as a staff engineer in the sub-station department and later the operating department of Central Maine Power Co. for a total of 13 years. He was previously a self-employed dairy farmer d.b.a. Windcliff Farm in Sidney. Prior to that, Frank was assistant chief engineer of Columbian Bronze Corporation, Freeport, N.Y., and a tool and die design engineer for Grumman Aircraft, Bethpage, N.Y.

He was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church of Augusta and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers.

Surviving is his wife, Dorothy (Finn) Steinmeyer of Sidney; three sons, Carl Steinmeyer and wife Eileen of Shaftsbury, Vt., Robert Steinmeyer and wife Verona of Washington, Maine, and Ray B. Steinmeyer and wife Ruth of Sidney; six grandchildren, a step-granddaughter, 11 great-grandchildren and a niece, Carolyn Luedke of Acadia, Fla.

Mr. Steinmeyer was predeceased by his sister, Jessie Scholl.

There will be no public visiting hours. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2007, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Augusta.

Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Augusta. Memorial contributions may be made to HealthReach Hospice and Home Care, P.O. Box 829, Waterville, ME 04903-0829.
