Franklin G. Bovey 1930 - 2011 BENNINGTON Franklin G. Bovey, 81, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2011, with his family by his side. Born in Bennington on Feb. 24, 1930, son of Fred and Sarah Streeter Bovey, he grew up in Dorset and Pittsford where he attended school. Frank later moved back to Dorset where he met and married the only woman he ever loved, Pauline Bushee Bovey. They were married on Aug. 14, 1955. They moved back to Pittsford where he was manager of the Nan-Kee farm, owned by Dr. Thomas Keenan. In September 1968, Frank and Pauline purchased the farm that he still operated at the time of his death. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved telling many a hunting and fishing story of his trips to Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. He was the leader of the Hill and Valley 4-H Dairy Club along with Pauline for many years. One of his many joys was still going to cattle shows and watching his children and grandchildren show. He was also an active member of the Sugar Hill Snomads snowmobile club for many years. He was a fence viewer and pound keeper for many years for the Town of Pittsford. Frank loved nothing more than sugaring with his favorite team of horses, Ben and Bill. He went on many a ride around the county with Ben and Bill. Frank and his team also did several weddings for local brides and grooms. Frank leaves a son, Franklin G. Bovey II, and his companion, Barbie Bassett; two daughters, Carleen Rousseau and husband, Bradford, and Melissa and her companion, Thomas Poro, all of Florence; two grandchildren, Heather Bowen and her husband, David, and Kyle Rousseau, all of Florence, and his companion, Natasha Greene; two sisters, Millie O'Leary of Dorset and Mable Herrick and husband, Platt, of Pawlet; two special brothers-in-law, Charles O'Leary of Manchester and Calvin Williams of Essex Junction, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Pauline Bovey; by two sisters, Harriet Williams and Geneva O'Leary, and by two brothers, Loyerston Bovey and Fred Bovey. FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be Friday, July 1, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at BARNARD FUNERAL HOME. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UVM Extension Service, 4-H Dairy Program, c/o Rita Charlton, 1 Scale Ave. - Ste. 55, Rutland, VT 05701 BARNARD FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
