Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER -- A service of thanksgiving for the life of Fred Dennis Bovey was held Sunday afternoon, Feb, 26, 2006, at the United Church of Dorset and East Rupert.

The Rev. Dr. James H. Gray conducted the service. Music was under the direction of organist Jane Wood, who led the congregation in the singing of the hymns “ The Old Rugged Cross,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am Lord” and “Amazing Grace.”

The song “Living Prayer” was sung by Howard Coolidge with Sean Kelly on guitar. Rick Reddington offered a solo and accompanied Sean Kelly on the hymn “Amazing Grace.”

The Rev. Gray offered the call to worship and the scripture readings Psalm 23 and John. 14. Special readings were offered by Amy Thebault, who read the poem “Blessing” by Mildred H. Bell, Samantha Stone who read “Brother Fred” by Mabel Herrick and Kathy Powers who read the verse “Footprints.” A celebration of memories was offered by friends and family members, including the Rev. Gray, Becky and Sid Staunton, Linda O’Leary and Howard Coolidge.

Serving as bearers were Hal and Howard Coolidge, Brad Tyler, Platt “Mike” Herrick Jr., Linwood Bovey, Daniel O’Leary, Fred Herrick, Franklin Bovey Jr. and Larry Bovey.

Honorary bearers were Donald Badger Sr., John “Jack” Stannard, James Stannard, Terry Tyler, Dennis Petty and Rick Wilkins.

Assisting as ushers were Pete Abbott, Nan Leach, Bill McWayne and Caroline Sargent.

A time of fellowship and refreshments was held immediately following the service at the Dorset Sportsman’s Club.

Fred Dennis Bovey, a lifelong resident of Dorset, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2006, at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Arrangements were under the care of Brewster Funeral Service, 34 Park Place, Manchester Center.
