Frederick Arntz Jr.

1919-2010 ARLINGTON, VT Frederick G. Arntz Jr., 91, a resident of Hagelburg Road in Arlington, passed away peacefully Monday morning, June 21, 2010, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

Born in Baltimore, Md., on Feb. 25, 1919, the son of Frederick G. Arntz Sr. and Grace Hoffman Arntz, he attended Baltimore schools.

Fred served in the Navy during WWII as an aviation electrician, earning the WWII Victory Medal. His tour of duty included time in China, the American Theatre, Asiatic Pacific, and he achieved the Good Conduct Medal.

Fred loved and was an exceptional woodworker. He enjoyed his home and working around his yard. Fred liked folk art furniture, enjoyed fishing, and loved going on his boat. Most of all, Fred loved being a member of the Navy.

Fred leaves his children, Frederick G. Arntz III of Manasquan, N.J., John C. Arntz of Arlington, Vt., and Diane McConnell of Arlington; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, the former Elsie M. Nutall, who passed away Dec. 27, 2006, and his sister, Doris Brander.
