Obituary Condolences

JAMAICA -- Frederick B. Allen, 87, of Jamaica, died peacefully Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the Grace Cottage Hospital in Townshend. He was born May 4, 1918, the son of Frank and Winifred (Brown) Allen in Lisbon, N.H.

Fred attended schools in Jamaica and later worked for Cersosimo Industries as a foreman. He served his country during World War II in the United States Army as a tank commander. He was a member of the Free Masons, the Jamaica Fire Company and the American Legion. Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as playing baseball in his younger years. He was married to Irene Benson, who predeceased him.

Mr. Allen is survived by a sister, Priscilla Nicholson of Manchester Center; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, Martin “Bombay” Allen, and a sister, Lois Howe.

A graveside committal service will be held at the Jamaica Cemetery at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2006. There are to be no calling hours at this time.

Memorial donations in Mr. Allen’s memory may be made to the Windham County Humane Society or the American Kidney Foundation.

Arrangements are under the care of the White Funeral Home in Townshend.
