Frederic D. Hoth

1921 - 2016 Frederic D. Hoth, 94, a resident of Cyr Court, Bennington, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 in Jacksonville, FL, following a breif illness. Born in Leonia, NJ on May 30, 1921, he was the son of the late Frederic C. and Lois M. (Pett) Hoth. He received his education in the Leonia schools and was a graduate of Leonia High School. He later graduated from Notre Dame University in South Bend, IN, with a Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering. He also attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. A WWII veteran, Mr. Hoth served in the U.S. Army from June 6, 1944 until July 23, 1946. Mr. Hoth married the former Estelle Betit at Sacred Heart Church in Bennington on May 3, 1958. In earlier years Mr. Hoth was employed as a chemical engineer and technical director at BenMont Paper Co. and later at Lydall Inc. in Hoosick Falls, NY. He was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and a member of Knights of Columbus, Council 307. He was also a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. He was a former member of the Kiwanis Club in Hoosick Falls. His Hobbies and interests included playing golf, traveling to all fifty states and photography. His greatest pastime was spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Estelle Hoth of Bennington, six daughters, Mary (John) Cassarino of Rutland, Vt, Teresa (Donald) Gangell of Newnan, GA, Mary Hoth of Westfield, MA, Frederica Carr of San Marcos, CA, Rebecca (Scott) Murray of Conyers, GA, and Michelle (Mark) Blanchard of Fleming Island, FL, three sons; Michael (Heidi) Hoth of Berlin, Germany, Dennis Hoth of San Francisco, CA and Christopher (Lise) Hoth of Gales Ferry, CT; nineteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and also by his neices and nephews. Mr. Hoth was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth Porter Hoth who died in 1956; his brothers, Daniel Hoth and Paul Hoth; his sister Barbara Rosencrantz; a granddaughter Veronica Hoth; and a great-grandson Dominic Cassarino. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church on May 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian burial will be offered. Burial will take place at Park Lawn Cemetery. Should friends desire memorial donations in Frederick Hoth's memory, they may be made to Sacred Heart School throught the office of Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St.
