1940 - 2015 NORTH BENNINGTON Garfield E. Gardner, 75 a former longtime resident of Dorset passed away peacefully Monday, July 20, 2015 in Bennington. The son of Roy and Madeline ( Sears ) Gardner, he was born in Waterbury on March 1, 1940. He grew up in the Poultney area where he attended school. He married Mary Louise Nolet on June 27, 1959, they resided in Dorset for 30 years prior to relocating to North Bennington in 2006. Mr. Gardner had worked as a Lineman in South Dakota and for most of his life was a heavy equipment operator, he was also a Jack of all Trades. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards and going on long rides. He was a devoted grandfather and enjoyed a special bond with his eldest grandchild, Andrew, he will be remembered as a great husband and dad who was always there for his family. He leaves his wife, Mary of 56 years, son, David Gardner of Glen Allen, VA, daughter, Elaine Caldwell of Lusby, MD, brother, Edwin Gardner of Rutland, sister, Jennie Bernstel of Florida, grandchildren, Andrew, Ashley and Alex as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by siblings, Robert Morse, LeRoy Gardner, Jerry Gardner and Sharon Martin. SERVICES: A service to celebrate his life will be held on July 24th, 2015 at 10am at the Hanson Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home, burial will follow in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset.
