Geneva Liggett Obituary
Geneva P. Liggett

1928-2014 BUSKIRK, NY Geneva P. Liggett, 85, died peacefully at her home on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, with loving family by her side. She was the widow of Irving C. Liggett (1924 - 1995). Born in Paris, Texas, on December 16, 1928, Ginny was the daughter of Marion and Eva (Daniels) Edwards. She graduated from Cooper High School and began her professional working life shortly after, marrying Irv on November 23, 1949. She was the mother of four. Irv's career required multiple moves: Texas, Ohio, New York, California, and finally, Greenwich, Connecticut, their home for 31 years. Wherever the family lived, Ginny created an overflowing vegetable garden. Shortly after her husband's death, Ginny and son Alan moved to Cambridge, NY to be near family. For Ginny it was a return to her rural beginnings. The open space for gardening and welcoming neighbors and friends made it a "coming home". Ginny's hands were never idle, always busy with one of her many crafts or her never-ending list of projects. Tag saling and the Cambridge Farmers' Market were particular delights. Survivors include four children, Alan E. Liggett of Buskirk, Lawrence I. Liggett of Weston, CT, Steven M. Liggett of Arlington, MA, and Carole A. Liggett of Eagle Bridge, NY; six grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary-Lou Ekiss of Dallas, TX, and Mildred Morgan, of Bryan, TX. Ginny's kind-hearted, generous and whimsical spirit will be remembered and greatly missed. A Memorial Celebration of Ginny's life will be held in the spring. The family is being assisted by Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, Cambridge. Please visit www.ackleyrossfuneralhome.com.
