1924 - 2014 BENNINGTON Genevieve Woodard, 89, a former resident of East Main Street, died Thursday, July 17, 2014, at the Vermont Veterans Home. The daughter of Nassif and Frieda (Ferris) Latif, she was born in Springfield, Mass., on Sept. 15, 1924. Gen grew up in Springfield where she graduated Commerce High School in 1942. Upon relocating to Bennington she attended St. Joseph's Business School. Gen had worked at the former Montgomery Ward store until joining her brother, Michael, at Williams IGA Store. She also worked as a bookkeeper at Williams & Bugbee Auto dealership until 1984 and American Legion Post 13, retiring in 2000. Gen was a communicant of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. She was an avid quilter, a member of the Quite Valley Quilters, a volunteer driver for the Eye Support Group and a volunteer at Park McCullough House. She enjoyed visiting with people and her home was fine with only a few gathering places for friends and family. Her husband, Paul Woodard, whom she married on Sept. 16, 1945, died December 1984. She leaves her daughter, Frances and husband, Michael Hart of Bennington; sons, Dr. Paul Michael and wife, Priscilla Woodard of Edmonton, Alberta, Scott Woodard and life partner, Todd Baisch of Chicago, John (BJ) and wife, Marilyn Woodard of Shaftsbury and Douglas and wife Judith Woodard of North Bennington; brother, Francis and wife, Lucy Latif of Bennington; sister-in-law, Jane Latif of Benningotn; a dear sister-in-law, Edna and husband Ralph Prouty, 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by brothers, Michael Williams and Joseph Latif and by sister, Rose Williams. FUNERAL NOTICE: The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church on Thursday July 24, at 10 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Burial will be held privately in St. Michael's Cemetery in Springfield , Mass.
