Obituary Condolences

WHITE CREEK. N.Y. -- George E. Meyers, Jr., 47, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2007, as the result of smoke inhalation when his home on New York State Route 22 burned in the early morning hours.

Born in Cambridge on Sept. 23, 1960, he was the son of the George E. Meyers, Sr. and Carol Bardwell Meyers of Shushan.

After graduating from Salem Washington Academy in 1978, George joined the Army and served for four years, spending time in Germany.

George worked the past five years for Leo D. Bernstein & Sons Inc., a company that makes mannequins, in Shaftsbury, Vt. Previously, he had worked at Allied Corp. in Hoosick Falls and Easton Castings in Cambridge.

Music was an important part of George’s life. Sharing a birthday with Bruce Springsteen, he was an avid fan. He enjoyed hunting, collecting guns and bird watching.

Along with his mother, he is survived by his wife of 23 years and mother to his children, Cynthia (Baker) Meyers of Greenwich; also mother to his children, Katherine Korb of Buskirk; his children, William Korb of Buskirk, Samatha E. Meyers of Greenwich, Christina C. Korb of Cambridge, George E. Meyers III of Buskirk, and Gabriel E. McKeighan; two grandchildren; two siblings and their spouses, Tracy and Scott Lucy and Glen and Brenda Meyers, all of Cambridge; nieces; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Friends and relatives are invited to call on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ackley & Ross Funeral Home, 73 West Main Street, Cambridge. A Memorial Celebration of George’s life will be held at 7 p.m.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Second Chance Animal Shelter, 6879 Route 7A, Shaftsbury, VT 05262.
