George Legacy 1941-2008 BENNINGTON George L. Legacy, 66, a resident of Chapel Road in Bennington died on Tuesday evening, May 8, at his home. Born in Bennington on November 24, 1941, son of the late Edward Legacy and Gertrude Senecal Legacy, he received his education in Bennington. He was employed as a machinist at UST in Bennington for several years. George served with the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era. George was a member of the VFW Post 1332 of Bennington, and a former member of the Bennington Rescue Squad. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and picking wild leeks on hikes through the area. Besides his mother, he leaves his wife, the former Barbara Byrne of Conn., his very special granddaughter, Monica Frisbee, who he raised at home since she was a toddler; two daughters, Raquel Sunskis of North Adams, Mass. and Tamara Derosia of Mebain, N.C.; two grandsons, Justin Sunskis and Dakota Sunskis, both of Williamstown, Mass. and several brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Monday morning, May 12 at 10 a.m. at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, in Bennington with the Reverend Michael DeMasi officiating. Interment will take place in White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1332 of Bennington through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
